This beautiful area is north of Boise. The earthen dam got built during the Depression as a federal work project. This was also the place my paternal grandfather committed suicide by driving his car into the reservoir. He was carpenter who fell off the roof of a house, landing on a stake that injured his spine. Back surgery was still crude in the 1950’s and it didn’t relieve the pain. That my father told me surprised me.
