On Black Friday, 11/26/2021 @ 1:30PM, I took a daylight walk-thru of Christmas in The Park in downtown San Jose. This is one of Silicon Valley’s biggest holiday events. Volunteers were still decorating the Christmas trees. The lights and rides wouldn’t start until 4:00PM. Christmas in The Park is open noon to midnight from Black Friday through New Year’s Day.
How Fast Was That DDR3 Memory Kit #SHORTS
I misidentified the G.Skill memory kit on the ECS KAM1-I AM1 mini-ITX motherboard in my last tech video. I said it was 8GB 1600MHz DDR3. It wasn’t. While editing that video, I added on-screen text that it was 4GB 1333MHz DDR3.
Why did I say 8GB 1600MHz DDR3?
I have a Patriot memory kit with those specs inside my old AM3 system that gathered dust for the last three years. That memory kit is now installed on the AM1 motherboard for my next tech video.
The Last “Cheap” B450 AM4 Mini-ITX Motherboard
The ECS KAM1-I AM1 mini-ITX motherboard and the AMD Athlon 5150 AM1 processor cost me $50 US in 2015. I paid $25 US for the motherboard and $25 US for the processor. A nice little combo for a Linux box to back up my FreeNAS file server.
I got the ASRock Fatal1ty B450 Gaming-ITX/AC AM4 motherboard for $100 US as a replacement. The last cheap B450 AM4 mini-ITX motherboard available in today’s market.
I’ll explain the old AM1 motherboard and the new AM4 motherboard.Read more “The Last “Cheap” B450 AM4 Mini-ITX Motherboard”
5 Groups That Stopped Short at Veterans Day Parade 2021
This week I attended the 103rd San Jose Veterans Day Parade in Silicon Valley. The main parade route was Market Street from Santa Clara Street to San Carlos Street. The grandstand was at Park Avenue and Market Street. I set up my camera halfway between Park Avenue and San Carlos Street. A great sightline of the parade when it passes by. All the marchers stopped marching at San Carlos Street. Except for the five groups that stopped short of finishing the parade.Read more “5 Groups That Stopped Short at Veterans Day Parade 2021”
San Jose/Silicon Valley Veterans Day Parade 2021
The San Jose/Silicon Valley Veterans Day Parade 2021 started at 12:30PM and lasted 90 minutes. I edited out the gaps between groups to reduce the video time to one hour. The time stamps in the description are for groups with signs I could read (most but not all). The first half was a car show and the second half was a parade.
NOTE: Check out the five groups that stopped short at the parade.
Mel Brooks As Content Creator #SHORTS
I replaced the words “stand up philosopher” with “content creator” in the famous quote from Mel Brook’s “History of The World, Part I” movie. His definition is now my motto towards making YouTube videos.
Too Early For A FortNite Christmas? #SHORTS
Broke out the Star Wars Stormtrooper a bit early to celebrate the holidays in FortNite (Chapter 2/Season 8). The holidays and winter wonderland doesn’t start until the next season on December 5, 2021. Stormtrooper is wearing a snowman backpack and doing the snow globe emote.
Why Mesh for Microsoft Teams May Not Change Anything
Satya Nadella at Microsoft Ignite 2021 embraced the Metaverse this week. Announcing Mesh for Microsoft Teams, a 2D/3D virtual environment for team collaboration. I’ll explain how Microsoft Teams works in government I.T. and how Mesh could change nothing.Read more “Why Mesh for Microsoft Teams May Not Change Anything”
George Floyd’s Death Blurred Out
YouTube sent me a late night email on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, informing me that a video on my channel was no longer compliant with the Community Guidelines and age restricted (a viewer must be 18 years or older and logged in to view the video).
That was odd.
I maintain a family- and advertiser-friendly, and, under the Federal Trade Commission’s COPPA, not “made for kids” channel. All my videos are suitable for a general audience (13 years or older).
Which video got age restricted?
My montage video that alternated clips from George Floyd’s death and the first SpaceX crewed flight while Gil Scott-Heron narrated his 1970 poem, “Whitey On The Moon,” about poverty on the earth and white men on the moon.
